Teaching Nose Targeting Games

Have a rainy day? Here is a fun game you can teach your dog.

teaching your dog to nose target a sticky noteFor a dog, nose targeting means touching his/her nose to something. In dog training, I often teach people how to use clicker train (marker train) their dog to touch his/her nose to their hand as a simple, easy initial behavior as there are so many uses for it. To learn how to teach your dog to hand target, see this post.

Once your dog knows how to target a hand, another fun game is teaching your dog to target a sticky note. Then you can move the note around the room and ask your dog to find it. It is a great indoor enrichment game to play with your dog on rainy days.

In this video I show you how I did that with my dog, Dawson.
