Giving Treats To Bitey Puppy

Giving treats to bitey puppies with really sharp teeth can take away the fun of treat delivery…and puppy training.  Or dog training for that matter. I see nervous people pull their hand away in anticipation of that puppy or dog hurting them. The problem is that doing this can cause the puppy or dog to have a greater tendency to bite the treat hand. In this video, labrador retriever puppy Watson is helping me demonstrate how you can avoid being hurt and encourage a softer mouth.

➡️Hold the treat between your thumb and index finger.

➡️ Cup your hand and hold your palm up when facing your puppy. Palm down when your puppy is at your side.
