That means carefully introducing distractions only at a level where your learner can continue to focus and do the behavior you are looking for, and moving forward as your student can succeed. You may think you are using positive reinforcement, but if your dog or other pet is not motivated to do more of the behavior, then you may not be reinforcing the behavior.
