Add Snuffling To Your Dog’s Enrichment

How do you feed your dog? There are SO many ways you can make food time, enrichment time. Training is one way. Food dispensing toys are another way. Snuffle mats are yet another option.

Feeding your dog with a snuffle mat is a great enrichment activity. With creativity, you can make your own snuffle mat.If you aren’t familiar – these are mats that allow you to hide food so that your dog can search and find it. And you don’t necessarily need to spend a log of money on a mat – this is a picture of my friend Kim’s dog Juliet snuffling on a bathroom mat that has perfect type of pile in which to hide treats. You can also use AstroTurf. I’ve scattered food throughout a yard too. I also wad up a blanket or towel and hide food in crevices.  See my video below on doing this activity with our family dog, Sam.
