My friendly reminder…our pets do not come pre-learned with all of our rules. And they do not speak human language. They rely on us to teach them. The clearer our lesson plan, and the more fun and valuable we can make the outcome of their doing the behaviors we want to see, the more they will want to learn those behaviors from us.
Every waking moment of every day and every interaction your dog has with you and the environment is teaching your dog what works, what matters, and what associations to have.
Teaching happens whether we intend it or not. Our interactions cause others to learn positive AND negative associations with situations, and with us.
