I see children all of the time who love having a dog a part of their family. I also see many dogs that are uncomfortable and often do not feel safe around kids. That is why I think it is so important to teach kids that part of being a good dog friend is understanding how their dog communicates feelings (through dog body language), and how to respect those feelings. That is part of what I teach in my My Dog, My Best Buddy dog training classes for kids. Not only is this good for dog bite prevention, it is good for setting your child’s relationship with your dog up for success.
If you have a child, I welcome your child to take my quiz below. Then contact me the results and I can let you know how he/she did!
