I have SO much news to share as to why I have been rather quiet the past few weeks.
One really BIG thing is that my home is now shared with a little puppy. Dawson is a 12-week-old maltipoo who was just under four pounds when he came home. (He has been eating A LOT the past week and I think he has grown…at least a pound! LOL) My little boy is precious. He is eating up much of my time in between appointments so my time for writing blog posts has been limited. I am working at scheduling chunks of time to do that. I would like to share some of my lessons from raising him. I will be sharing some of that journey too on my social media accounts so be sure to follow me!
Other news…
As part of my commitment to teaching and using the most positive and least intrusive approaches to pet behavior modification, I recently completed a comprehensive course on preventing and alleviating fear, anxiety and stress, and improving an animal’s emotional wellbeing during veterinary care and at home. AND, upon completion, I am the first dog trainer in Hamilton County become a Fear FreeSM Certified Professional Trainer. The skills I studied focused on managing and handling dogs and cats alongside the veterinary team to ease a pet’s apprehension regarding exams, procedures and other care…including for routine care such as grooming.
Additionally, on my quest for continuing education, I am currently auditing the Living and Learning with Animals course I took years back on Applied Behavior Analysis taught by my very first teacher/mentor Dr. Susan Friedman.
Lastly, I held my first of two fall community behavior talks earlier this month and so much appreciate the great attendance…especially on the rainy night! I partnered with the City of Wyoming for that talk (where I grew up) and will be partnering with the City of Blue Ash once again for another talk on November 8. To register for that, please my Talks and Classes page.
