There are so many beautiful, important life messages shared from Martin Luther King Jr. This MLK quote: “You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step”, has so many interpretations. Some of those interpretations can have to do with dog training.
In life, if we want to accomplish anything, we must realize that change and growth only occur when we take those first steps,
when we allow ourselves to push out of comfort zones,
to move past our fear of failure,
to believe in ourselves and our inner powers to accomplish and learn and grow.
When we teach our companion animals, our pets, we take many first steps hand-in-hand
as partners with our students.
We encourage and inspire their motivation to accomplish and learn and grow.
We do that together, creating a safe, fun and engaging environment that is our classroom.
First steps are how we move forward.
There are big steps.
There are small steps.
There are steps that lead in other directions.
Be open to them all.
Be open to growing from each one. Learn from it.
Find and spread the joy in the process!
