Here is a simple dog training tip: If you want your dog to give you attention, check in, and listen to you outside, you have to earn that privilege. Practice showing your dog that YOU have the power to make FUN things happen when your dog CHOOSES to give you attention outside. Do it often. Make having fun it a dog training habit.
Joel’s Legacy: Adoption Is About Love
A Lesson In Love Learned By Joel
On the day after DOGust Day, a day when we celebrate the birth of adopted dogs whose real birthdays may be unknown, I’d like to share with you his very special story. His life, his spirit and his journey while here on earth so moved the people in whose care he found experienced enduring love that he will never be forgotten…and will be a constant reminder of their purpose. Their passion.
My Furry Valentine Volunteer Talks About Her Passion
For hundreds of Greater Cincinnati families and individuals each year, Valentine’s Day has come to be extra special as a holiday when they adopted a dog, puppy, cat or other small animal at My Furry Valentine. The event has grown to be the largest mega dog and cat adoption event in the region, and attracts over 1400 visitors to the Sharonville Convention Center. It has more than 700 animals (dogs, cats, birds and some other species) from dozens of rescues. If you are looking to add a non-human friend to your household, you just may find your new companion there!
United Pet Fund Garage Sale
I remember so well that day when United Pet Fund held its grand opening of its then new 8,500 sq ft Blue Ash Resource Center. In a warehouse building that would come to be stocked with pet food and supplies, dozens of people who shared a common interest in the welfare of animals were standing. All eyes were on a man and his dog, and the connection that spoke to the hearts of everyone in that room.
Cincinnati Has New Dog Super Heroes
These young children learned important lessons about dog body language, how to play safely with their dog, and how to be a positive dog trainer at my most recent My Dog’s Super Hero class at the United Pet Fund in Blue Ash. They did a fantastic job – so did my demonstration dogs, Daisy and Bunny. Teaching kids and parents these classes is about strengthening relationships and preventing dog bites.
